Preparing for a Loss of Position and Timing: Roundtable Summary

NPC convened a hybrid roundtable on 30^th November 2023, Chaired by Lord Toby Harris, and hosted online and by Pool Re, London, centreed on the Royal Institute of Navigation’s report, “Preparing for a Loss of Position and Timing.” Highlighting the ubiquity of reliance on satellite-derived positioning, the discussion explored society’s vulnerabilities to threats like space weather. Commending the Met Office’s efforts in forecasting adverse events, the report’s co-author, John Pottle, outlined key points, initiating a focused and informed discussion among participants. This summary paper provides an overview of the discussion points raised at this roundtable.
