On the 5th July 2023, Kevin Blanchard will be hosting a special panel session online at 1-2pm to explore;  What will the future of disaster risk reduction look like in a post-Sendai/ post-2030 agenda world?

Mark Ojal (UCL IRDR) – The future of DRR policy and governance

Miguel Angel Trejo Rangel (University of Limerick) – Technology & its role in the future of DRR

Thushara Kamalrathne (GDRC, University of Huddersfield) – The role of health on future DRR processes.

Mausumi Moran Chetia (Erasmus University Rotterdam) – Marginalised groups (focused on displaced populations)

 

The 60 minute webinar will explore;

    • Provide an opportunity for the expert panellists to future-gaze and discuss where they think disaster risk reduction science and research will be in 2030 and what kind of framework will be needed to achieve continued reduction of disaster risk.
    • Explore discussions on a number of thematic areas on the subject of a post-Sendai DRR process including health, technology, marginalised groups and policy.
    • Consider emerging trends, technology and politics that will feed into the future of DRR and how we can begin to prepare for that reality now.
