The Getting Ahead of Disasters Charter was launched by the United Arab Emirates in collaboration with Samoa and the UK, during the Relief, Recovery and Peace Day at COP28. The charter outlines five principles for collaborative action to optimise finance for effective risk management and safeguard vulnerable populations in the face of climate-related disasters.

The Charter builds consensus and commitment to action on these principles, increasing the momentum for global organisations to seek better risk reduction risk management for systemic change that will better protect frontline communities facing the impacts of climate change.
