The UK maritime economy currently contributes £55 billion annually to the wider UK economy, and is a critical industry which must align with net zero ambitions and adapt to increasing automation through technological driven innovations. Connected Place Catapult has published a report “UK Maritime Innovation Ecosystem” offering a high-level overview of this sector’s innovation ecosystem with key areas of opportunity around three key challenges facing the maritime sector; decarbonisation, automation and skills. The report makes six recommendations to raise awareness, and promote opportunities for cross sector collaboration for investment and innovation.
