The University of Southampton has been awarded £6.5m from the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and other partners to launch a new research and training Flood Centre to enhance UK flood resilience. The Flood Centre is a collaboration between specialists from universities and organisations across the UK, including Bristol, Loughborough and Newcastle Universities, the British Geological Survey, the National Oceanography Centre and the UK Centre of Ecology and Hydrology, with 37 other partner organisations, ranging from national government, local authorities, regulators, utilities, and the private and third sector.
