The UK Government has published its research and analysis report on the capabilities and risks of frontier AI. The report was, compiled by experts and peer-reviewed and draws from sources including intelligence assessments. The paper seeks to develop a shared understanding of the risks essential to unlock the enormous benefits of frontier AI whilst outlining the capabilities, risks, and cross-cutting challenges presented by the technology, pointing particularly to dangers around misuse, social harms, and loss of control.
The publication comes in advance of the upcoming AI Safety Summit 2023 hosted by the UK Government at Bletchley Park and aims to build a shared global understanding of the risks posed by frontier AI.
