The UK Government has recently pledged to increase defence spending to realise the objectives of the Integrated Review. According to the Cabinet Office’s policy paper, “Defending Britain” the government has committed to raising defence spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2030, with an additional £75Bn investment. This increase in spending will be fully funded without borrowing or debt.

The paper also outlines how the UK is strengthening defence ties globally and prioritising partnerships like AUKUS and GCAP while leading NATO’s modernisation efforts. The paper further explains the plans to enhance the UK’s defence industry, including a new munitions strategy and investment in cutting-edge technologies such as drones and autonomous systems.
