The UK Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology has published a research briefing on the risks of wildfires to UK landscapes. The POSTnote explores how climate change has increased the risk of wildfires and how such impacts could be mitigated with improvements in public communication, strengthening Fire and Rescue Service response, and altered land management practices. The research briefing finds that reducing the vulnerability to wildfire risk has co-benefits for the environment alongside infrastructure protection. The briefing states the Home Office has committed to scoping a Wildfire Action Plan by mid-2024.
