In this article, the EIS Council explores the role of local governments in strengthening infrastructure resilience. The article sets out strategies and actions that local governments can undertake to enhance the resilience of critical infrastructure within their areas. It recognises that the role of local government in preparation and mitigation is fundamental in securing safe and sustainable communities. Although the strategies and actions presented are predominantly written in the context of the United States, they are equally transferable to other national contexts.
