At the Global scale

 

The World Health Organisation and partners are launching a global network to help protect people from infectious disease threats through the power of pathogen genomics. The International Pathogen Surveillance Network (IPSN) will provide a platform to connect countries and regions, to improve systems for data collection and analysis to inform public health decision-making, and information sharing.

At the UK National Scale

 

The Wellcome Sanger Institute in collaboration with UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) are creating genomic surveillance tools, as part of the new Respiratory Virus and Microbiome Initiative (RVI) to track and understand current and emergent viruses. The project aims to provide blueprint for expanding surveillance capacity and capabilities, that could be utilised nationally, and globally for early warning of potential outbreaks.
