The 2023 report of the Lancet Countdown on Health and climate change: The Imperative for a health-centred Response in a world facing irreversible harms has been published. This international collaboration monitors climate change related health impacts and the Paris Agreement’s progress. Its eighth report draws on the expertise of 114 scientists and health practitioners from 52 research institutions and UN agencies worldwide.

The report stresses the importance of accelerating mitigation, increasing support for health adaptation, and driving a sustained shift away from fossil fuels to truly protect health. This year’s report also includes projections based on different scenarios of global warming, highlighting the study’s implications for policymakers and health practitioners.
