Secure by design is an approach introduced in 2021 that seeks to embed cybersecurity in digital delivery from the outset of new projects. 2023 Secure by Design was adopted in the Government Cyber Security Strategy.

The Cabinet Office, Central Digital and Data Office, have published its latest blog, announcing the publication of the cross-government Secure by Design approach, inviting the digital and security communities to familiarise themselves with the Secure by Design Principles and Secure by Design activities. The rollout of this new approach will align with the Transforming for a Digital Future: 2022 to 2025 roadmap for digital and data.

Further details are anticipated in March 2024, and further resources are anticipated for organisations wanting to integrate secure by design into their practices, including a gap analysis template, generic transition and communication plans and future webinars. Stakeholders are encouraged to sign up for the Secure by Design Newsletter for updates.
