The pandemic highlighted a greater need for public data and information sharing across government departments for better public outcomes.

A report published by the Office for Statistics Regulation sets out 16 recommendations to facilitate data sharing and linkage for the public good.  The findings and recommendations cover four key themes:

 

  1. Public engagement, social licence, and data security
  2. People, risk appetite, decision-making, skills and staffing
  3. Non-technical processes
  4. Technical challenges of datasets and infrastructure
