Resilience First, the International Coalition for Sustainable Infrastructure (ICSI) and researchers from University College London are part of a collaborative research project funded by the Lloyd’s Register Foundation. The project aims to operationalise the World Risk Poll by analysing statistical data to identify factors affecting people’s choice of, and trust in, information sources on disasters. It also aims to understand public perceptions and behaviours affecting resilience to natural hazards intensified by climate change and societal vulnerabilities. One of the key areas of focus is early warning systems, which are critical in saving lives, but only half the countries have access to such systems. The project aims to identify social factors influencing people’s choice and trust in disaster information sources and assess the impact of Covid-19 on these perceptions.
