The Climate Change Committee has published its Independent Assessment of the government’s Third National Adaptation Programme to Climate Change, concluding that climate risk is outpacing adaptation, leading to less resilience and greater vulnerability. In light of the ongoing inadequacy of the UK’s response to climate change risk, Chair of the Adaptation Committee Baroness Brown calls for an immediate strengthening of the government’s programme, with an overhaul of its integration with other government priorities. The report identifies three critical issues that need urgent addressing: governance, investment, monitoring, and evaluation.
