The government has responded to the National Infrastructure Commission Report published last April 2023, on Delivering net zero, climate resilience and growth: improving nationally significant infrastructure planning. The government has responded to fully endorse the four tests set out by the National Infrastructure Commission (faster, flexible, certainty, quality) and agrees in principle to the ambitions of the six recommendations set out in the NICs Report. The government response details how each of the recommendations are being acted upon, with an overview of ongoing progress in improving the planning and implementation processes that support the delivery of National Infrastructure. Chair of the National Infrastructure Commission, Sir John Armitt has responded to the government’s response, emphasising the need for urgency in delivering the major infrastructure planning reforms.
