The UK’s Department for Transport has initiated a consultation process to seek feedback on adapting the country’s transport system to the impacts of climate change. The deadline for feedback is 31st May 2024, and seeks views on the transport adaptation strategy. This strategy includes actions and policies that enhance climate adaptation planning and action across the sector, improving the transport system’s climate resilience. The policies will be developed over the next five years to enable progress ahead of the fourth National Adaptation Programme. The Department for Transport asks consultees to consider if the policies within the strategy are supported, how effective the policies will enhance adaptation action taken by transport infrastructure organisations, and what more the government could do to adapt to the impacts of climate change on transport infrastructure.
