During the 2024 Winter Meeting of the US Public Health and Disaster Response Task Force, the Co-Chairs Hawai‘i Governor Josh Green and Vermont Governor Phil Scott led a panel discussion on “Governors’ Reimagining Models of Disaster Preparedness and Recovery”. They emphasised the importance of building emergency and disaster capabilities into services before they are needed. They also discussed the need to develop adequate housing and mental health plans, as well as delivery funding streams that account for pre-event challenges and post-event contingencies. The recording of this session is available online. The Task Force has jurisdiction over various issues, including FEMA, the National Guard, Healthcare, nutrition, cybersecurity, immigration, human services, and public health emergencies.
