The UK Health Security Agency has published a research and analysis report ‘Extreme cold temperatures in domiciliary care: the study’ The report explores key issues of risk perception, planning and preparedness for cold weather, managing the impacts of sudden cold weather, the impact of rising energy costs, issues related to wellbeing and vulnerability, understanding information requirements for communication and coordination, alongside administration and guidance needs. The report concludes further information sharing agreements and emergency planning and response preparation would enhance resilience, alongside the enhancement of local solutions such as ‘local carers for local clients. The report also identifies mental health as a key challenge, and a need for further action to integrate the research findings into the cold-weather action cards and cold weather and health guidance
