The Centre of Excellence for Resilient Infrastructure Analysis, part of the Scientific Computing Department of the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), has granted £1.4 million to eight new projects. These projects aim to improve the UK’s resilience to severe weather, prepare for the impacts of climate change, and facilitate better stakeholder response and recovery from disruptions. The projects will include analysis and scenario planning, with outputs used by policymakers, local authorities, and private sector companies. They will address concerns such as reducing the risk of road closures, energy failures, sewer flooding, water and food shortages, and safeguarding underground infrastructure like water pipes and electrical cables.
