The National Infrastructure Commission (NIC) Design Group has released guidance for developing and implementing project-specific design principles. This guidance emphasises customising design principles to fit the specific needs of each project and stresses the importance of early and consistent commitment to these principles, with case studies from projects such as the Lower Thames Crossing, Tideway, and Sizewell C. It is embraced by the Infrastructure Projects Authority (IPA) and the UK government’s National Infrastructure Strategy.
