The climate change committee has published its 2023 Progress Report to Parliament. This statutory report provides a comprehensive overview of the UK Government’s progress to date in reducing emissions. This follows the UK’s warmest year on record with a heatwave with unprecedented heat related deaths, wildfires and disruption.

The report concludes that policy development remains too slow with new concerns arising, resulting in a material reduction in the governments ability to meet its 2030 targets and a loss of its position of global leader in net zero.
