The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction and the Group of Twenty has released a new compendium of good practices for increasing the application of nature-based solutions and ecosystem-based approaches for disaster risk reduction, complementing the 2023 Working Paper on the same topic. The compendium features 16 case studies demonstrating the diverse benefits of nature-based solutions, spanning areas such as biodiversity, climate mitigation, disaster resilience, and socio-economic development. It highlights the effectiveness and versatility of nature-based solutions, emphasising the importance of working with nature to successfully implement international policy frameworks, such as the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris Agreement, and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
