His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) has published its report “Avon Fire and Rescue Service inspection – accelerated cause of concern”. From inspection, the HMICFRS has identified two accelerated causes of concern relating to the risk management systems of the Avon Fire and Rescue Service, concluding that without immediate action, this poses a risk to public safety. The report sets out the recommended remedial actions and a formal deadline of 19 September 2023 to ensure that the service will provide action plans and demonstrate how it will improve its risk information and mobilisation systems. The document also suggests specific actions for the service, such as training staff, quality assurance, strategic oversight, and welfare support.
