Approval has been given from the Parliamentary Office for Science and Technology (POST) for work on a new POSTnote briefing exploring the policy implications of artificial intelligence. POSTnote briefings, are for members of parliament, policy and research stakeholders on topical and emerging themes from science, technology and social sciences. They are 4-page briefings developed in consultation with internal and external expert stakeholders and subject to systematic literature and expert peer review.

The briefing will provide an overview of potential policy issues relating to AI, including the benefits and risks to the economy and society through disinformation, national security, and existential risks. Work on the briefing will commence mid-September 2023 and contributions will be accepted until mid-October 2023.
