The Heat Action Platform is a new global tool that helps city officials, practitioners, and financial institutions reduce the negative impacts of extreme heat at the regional or city level. The platform includes planning, adaptation, implementation modules, a policy tool, supplementary materials, infographics, and technical briefs. It offers opportunities to connect with experts from various fields to plan, fund, implement, and measure heat resilience actions. The platform also enables practitioners and community leaders to collaborate with global experts to develop heat resilience solutions that cater to local needs and identify the environmental, economic, and social benefits of different heat resilience interventions. Extreme heat is a significant global challenge that causes more deaths than any other climate-driven disaster. As climate change intensifies the frequency, duration, and severity of heat waves and exacerbates the inequality of extreme heat impacts, this platform is vital for addressing this issue. The Adrienne Arsht-Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center and the Extreme Heat Resilience Alliance developed the Heat Action Platform in collaboration with the UN Environment Programme, the Cool Coalition, and the World Economic Forum’s Global Commission on BiodiverCities by 2030.
