In this article, Dan Milmo, Global Technology Editor for the Guardian News, summarises the recent report on AI incident reporting: Addressing a gap in the UK’s regulation of AI, by The Centre for Long-Term Resilience (CLTR). The report recommends that the UK Government establish a system to log AI misuse and malfunctions, similar to the system used in aviation. Over 10,000 AI-related safety incidents have been reported since 2014. The report finds that current UK regulators may not cover advanced AI systems and proposes preventive measures, such as creating a government AI incident report system and a pilot AI incident database.
