Sustainable Infrastructure

Why is UK infrastructure in such poor shape? Why is it badly maintained, badly coordinated and badly regulated? It is not sustainable and hence will not be sustained, undermining productivity, the net zero objectives and resilience to shocks and external threats. This presentation by Sir Dieter Helm, Professor of Economic Policy, University of Oxford, sets out how to properly account for infrastructure and how to ensure that it is put back in a state to underpin the sustainable economy, setting out some of themes in his new book Legacy: How to Build the Sustainable Economy.
